Details: Located in the heart of National Harbor, this luxury apartment building offers views of some of the area’s most iconic landmarks – the Capital Wheel, the Woodrow Wilson Bridge, the Potomac River, and Old Towne Alexandria. The most unique element of The Esplanade is its two-story center courtyard amenity space featuring an outdoor TV, grilling area, bocce court, and a grand staircase leading down to a fully landscaped resort-style pool.

Designed by RTKL and built by Bozzuto Construction, this project was a challenge from the beginning since there was no access for material to be moved through the building and into the courtyard – everything had to go up and over via a crane. Over three hundred tons of drainage aggregate and 300 cubic yards of lightweight soil had to be moved up and over the existing building facade and put into place throughout the courtyard to achieve the final product. Never mind this project was happening in February – so there was the constant battle with ice and snow to get things completed on time. But the final outcome is something to see and truly one of the most interesting courtyard spaces we have been a part of the building.
